Description |
TThe overall objective of the action is to contribute to good governance and poverty reduction by improving local public access to pro-poor services. The specific project purpose is to enhance the capacity of Union Parishads (UP) to deliver pro-poor infrastructure and services in an effective, efficient, equitable and accountable manner.
Within the wider LGSP, the World Bank has committed a Specific Investment Loan of US$ 111.5 million to underpin the nation-wide rollout of the UP block grant. Building on an earlier UNDP/UNCDF-funded pilot project in Sirajganj (SLGDP), the LIC develops innovative approaches in 6 pilot districts, such as participatory planning, budgeting and performance assessments, which will result in additional top-up block grants for the best-performing UPs. The partners within LIC are UNDP (consortium leader), UNCDF and Danida. |
