Based on the policies of the European Commission and the Government of Bangladesh priority areas for interventions have been identified in the Country Strategy Paper (2007-2013). Based on this analysis and the National Indicative Programme (2007-2010) projects and programmes are currently implemented.

Focus:

  • Continued commitment to support the Chittagong Hill Tracts peace treaty
     

  • Protection of Rohingya refugees in south-eastern Bangladesh
     

  • Commitment to combat trafficking

Economic and Trade Related Technical Assistance (€50 million)

Focus:

  • Development of technical and vocational education
     

  • Investment in export diversification

Non-focal area

Environment and disaster preparedness (€ 20 million)

Including:

Support to improvement of meteorological forecasting technology

Other interventions include:

  • Development of water resources and sanitation
     

  • Food security
